CellDB is an online database of CellIDs and their locations. The CellTrack client can connect to CellDB in order to retrieve the location name and other information for it’s current CellID.
If you have a CellDB account, you may submit cell names to the database, and also track your phone online. For example, you could display your recent whereabouts in your forum signatures.
CellTrack is 100% free (and open source). Access to CellDB is 100% free. Some services, such as online phone tracking/forum sigs, will be availible for a small fee (£0.99 / week) – however are currently free during the trail stage. This fee will be waived for people who contribute to the project.
(3) Interfaace: CellDB Web Service
The CellTrack client can be configued to connect to the SPV-Developers CellDB server. This server hosts a community-built database of the locations of many cell towers.
We are currently experimenting with a variety of supplementary CellDB services. One such service allows users to display their current location on their blog, website, or forum signature.
